Looking Forward in the New Year

January 2, 2016

Happy New Year! Reflecting on this past year, I feel so blessed to have clients that not only trust my design choices but have allowed me to push them out of their comfort zones while creating a space they call home.  Each client and project are so different from the next; I truly feel so lucky to do what I do!

While I photograph each project upon completion, this year the camera was pointed at my own home in San Francisco, when it was featured on The Everygirl – such a fun experience!

Blogging…this past year I started My Manicured Life.  It’s a project that I’ve wanted to embark on for some time, and I couldn’t be happier to continue this in the new year!   It’s a great way to share my love for all things related to design as well as to interact with others in the design community and to answer questions.

What’s ahead for Julia Goodwin Design in 2016?

At Julia Goodwin Design, there are multiple ongoing projects in the new year as well as some new and exciting projects soon to begin. Here is a quick glance at the projects.

Cow Hollow Remodel – With the remodel complete, the final touches are taking place in the dining room and living room. New artwork, furnishings and lighting will be installed.

Mission Project – Starting with an empty shell, this home will receive art, worthy of the finest art collector as well as new furnishings, bold wallpaper, paint and new lighting throughout.

NOPA Remodel – With phase 1 of a kitchen remodel complete, phase 2 will open the kitchen to the dining room and rework the laundry room. We will also kick off a bathroom remodel.

Monte Sereno Remodel – This remodel is nearing completion, and furnishings will be implemented in the next few months. I can’t wait to share the before and after pics of this project.

Los Gatos Family Home– This expansive home will receive all new landscaping including a pool, sports court and lounge areas throughout. This home received a transformation, and in the next few months the nursery and guest rooms will be completed — wallpaper and artwork throughout will serve as finishing touches.

Jor’Jet – With a remodel of two boutiques now complete – Jor’Jet on State is the remaining location to be photographed – Looking forward to sharing the images with you all!

Bernal Heights – This remodel is now complete; small pieces of art and accessories will be implemented and photographed.

Cow Hollow Remodel “SF Treehouse Project” – This four-level home has been completely remodeled. With clean lines throughout, the home will have a clean-and-sophisticated, yet warm, space for a family of four. The furnishings will complement the home and not distract from the sweeping views of San Francisco. In the next few weeks, the home will receive tile, cabinets, paint and lighting. Completion is set for mid-to-late February.

Los Altos Home – This project is more on the decorative side. Beginning in January the home will be reworked with furnishings, lighting, paint, and artwork — perfect for this young tech couple.

Blogging is even more addictive than I expected. I love how it provides an outlet to share advice, fun ideas and DIY projects with my friends and family.  It has also introduced me to a community that I didn’t expect would be so welcoming!

Design – I will share progress on projects as they move along as well as updates on my own home. For even more glimpses into the design projects that I’m at work on, follow me over at Instagram! With a new camera purchase, I hope to expand my skills and share even more.

DIY – I love to work on small and large DIY projects! I’m currently focusing on updating my home with storage solutions – especially in the kitchen, and I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve that I look forward to sharing with you. My sister, Sarah, recently joined in on the fun and will create and share easy cocktail recipes here on My Manicured Life. Delish!

Lifestyle – On a personal note, I’m recently engaged! Such a fun time! Brad and I will be making weekend trips to discover possible locations for our big day. You can expect fun DIY projects for the wedding! We love to travel and have a few trips already on the calendar — Chicago, Portland, Texas and Hawaii, to name a few. Living in San Francisco, we know how blessed we are to live in a city with so much to offer — I will be sure to share some of our favorite spots.

Thank you all for continuing to follow along on My Manicured Life, I look forward to sharing so much this next year.

Will you be adjusting your style or home design this manicured year?
