It’s been a while since I’ve written a Currently Obsessing post, and while most of my feed is quickly becoming filled with Christmas decor and cozy accents I’m looking to a material that is typically categorized as cold and harsh. A new year can bring on new trends, and while I don’t love the word “trend”, I do appreciate a new or fresh approach to something that has been around long before we grabbed a hold of it again.
This week, I was standing in a client’s project, {a bathroom remodel in the Castro district} and the freshly poured concrete had finally dried; as I stood there staring {yes, anticipating the beautiful tile that was about to go in}, I felt inspired by the texture, the depth, and color of the concrete in addition to how surprisingly warm it made the room feel. The medium can be manipulated in so many ways or stained, sanded, molded – it’s a creative’s dream. Let’s take a look at concrete with fresh eyes and see how vast this material is – don’t be surprised to even see a few faux concrete furnishings mixed in when you are shopping.
