This year, Valentines Day lands on a weekday, providing you the perfect opportunity to throw a little gathering on the weekend prior to Vday. Why not throw a “Galentines Day” get-together for the women in your life who encourage you, support you, make you laugh, and in general make you feel especially lucky, to let them know how much you appreciate them.
I don’t know about you, but the women in my life love a good cocktail, so this event focuses on drinks over food; because, well, as the saying goes, “alcohol… because no good story started with someone eating a salad” {though it’s fine to have one on hand}. Bar carts and dining tables provide the perfect place to showcase a style or theme for any party; I had so much fun creating cheeky cocktails, displaying quick bits, and including my guests in a personal way.
When it comes to styling for a Galentines event, I am always drawn to mixing modern with vintage and old with new. It creates conversation; and, generally, there is a story behind a piece or two (not to mention a DIY project opportunity to help bring the whole thing together).
Trust me, your girlfriends will thank you; and honestly, do you really need an excuse to get them all together for a laugh over some bites and drinks?
