Each year seems to go by faster than the last, but 2016 was one to remember – lots of wonderful memorable moments – though of course there were dips as well. It was such a great year both personally and professionally that I find it necessary to focus on the good and leave the bad in the past (because let’s be honest, there is always a touch of the unwanted in a year – it’s not all perfect).
Days before the start of 2016, The Mr. proposed and 2016 started off with a bang. Between traveling, a home tour on The Everygirl, the purchase of our first home together in San Francisco, and our wedding in mid-Septemeber, it was a bit of a wonderful whirlwind. Our house is slowly coming together. While we are holding off on a remodel, it doesn’t mean I can keep myself from adjusting everything to our liking for the time being.
I have been blessed to have worked for myself for almost 9 years, and I honestly can’t believe 9 years have gone by so quickly. When I started Julia Goodwin Design — previously, Eye For Design — I was nervous but excited. JGD has grown and I along with it; with countless design projects throughout the bay area, and, of course, photo shoots that go along with them. Though, JGD is not the only part of the company that has grown. Here, on My Manicured Life, the blog is expanding day by day with new collaborations and exciting opportunities ahead in 2017. Of course, I will still focus on design tips, home tours, design obsessions, and current JGD projects.
Travel has definitely been a part of our year. Multiple trips to Texas to visit Brad’s side of the family, a bachelorette in Portland {see epic friend pic below}, a honeymoon in Hawaii, quickly followed by a trip to England to visit with my side, as well as introduce Brad to everyone which was, of course, memorable. Luckily, living in San Francisco, we have so many opportunities for quick trips that make for fun weekends, such as the wine country – see Healdsburg trip here – or visits to the family lake house.
As one year comes to a close, it is always fun to look back through photos. Here are some highlights that I will continue to hold close. See more on Instagram.
