It was only a few short months ago that my husband and I spent a month-long trip abroad with three weeks in Italy and a week in Paris as a delayed honeymoon {one year after we got married}. While that last trip to Paris was not my first time there, its beauty still took me by surprise — so much so that I almost cried in a floral shop. So, when my extremely generous sister, Katie invited me to go with her as her guest on an all-expense paid trip with her work, I jumped at the chance; who wouldn’t? While I’m the lucky one, it didn’t come without the hard work that my sister puts in each day in her job. Make sure to keep an eye out for her in my Instagram stories this week – she always has me laughing. This trip will be a memorable one for sure.
Katie had the opportunity to live in France many years ago, and we still discuss her days there. I know I’m not the only one who dreams of living in Paris, but in particular, I dream of having the perfect Parisian apartment. My dream apartment would not be a huge place but it would naturally have lots of architectural details, a perfect place for entertaining in, large enough that it flexes with the vintage finds I would discover at flea markets {naturally} and artwork that I pick up as I walk through the magical city that Paris is. There are many aspects to a Parisian interior that I pull from in my dream scenario – a touch of shearling, mixing old with new, architectural lighting, a bold use of color, a memorable mirror, and for me, the use of black throughout.
First, some inspiration!
