If you are following me over on Instagram or have seen my portfolio, you know I don’t shy away from dark woods, metal, or even cement; but that doesn’t mean that’s all I love when it comes to wood tones. Recently, I’ve been pulling more natural and light wood tones (that are sealed but not stained) for my client projects, and I really love the light fresh look.
Growing up, I had a father whose hobby was to make furniture, cabinets, desks; you name it, he could make it – just as his brother, father and grandfather did. He taught me so much about stains, wood grains, species, and craftsmanship, so it really runs deep when I find a piece of furniture that I admire. It can bring me back to a piece that he made or a chat we had about a silly piece of wood he’d be hoarding in a shed. I could never get over the natural beauty found within each wood species when sanded and ready to be turned into a piece we would inevitably treasure.

Typically, cement floors and white walls feel clinical in a home; however, combined with natural wood doors and wall hooks, the home can be a welcoming and warm one.
