Celebrating Home Life
A recent move into our first home is cause for much-needed celebration! While house hunting is always a stressful process, the actual move is over; now it’s time to enjoy our new house and turn it into a home. We moved from Lower Pacific Heights to The Mission District of San Francisco. Having lived in LPH for five years, I was more than ready for a change of scenery. So, in true SF fashion, we moved a mile and are in a different neighborhood with a completely different vibe. Brad, Rufus (Boxer, age 8) and I couldn’t be happier with our new home (and our garage which is major for me as it’s my first one since I moved to SF)!
Be sure to stay tuned as I transform our Edwardian house into a clean, and Modern home while keeping some of the classical elements I can’t live without.
Friday Night Date Night
Living in The Mission District of SF means wonderful food options. While you might think of dinner followed by a movie, the Alamo Drafthouse offers both – scrumptious bites and drinks, all brought to you while seated and catching a great flick. This photo is from one of ceilings from the original construction of the New Mission theater – be sure to look up before the show begins. Keep an eye out for a full post on the Alamo Drafthouse next week!
Cooking It Up at Jordan’s Kitchen
Brad and I received a cooking class as a birthday gift from his parents. We had heard wonderful things about Jordan’s kitchen, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! This, too, will be a feature on the blog shortly, as I highly recommend it. Great food, new friends, and new cooking skills to try out at home!
Art Gallery – Sourcing
One of my clients is building quite an impressive collection of artwork in his home. Though he already has one Craig Allen piece in his home, I noticed a new piece, while visiting my favorite gallery, that might be the perfect compliment to his staircase – he immediately agreed once I sent him this photo.
#SFTreeHouseProject
With a project this size, it’s hard to share pretty photos all the time — or ever. Construction sites , while fun, are not always pretty. Though I did find an opportunity this week to post a sneak peek to Instagram of the gorgeous hexagonal tile that I’m having put into the entry of the home. To read more about this space, see here.
St. Frank Visit
St. Frank is one of those stores that just seems to get me. If you are in SF, I highly recommend checking it out; while not a large store it is big on impact, and you will almost certainly want to take home a treasure or two.
The #NOPAremodel Continues
While I knew when I took on this project that it would continue through multiple phases, I’m happy to report that the kitchen is and the adjoining living room are complete. Now we are on to the bathroom refresh part of the project. The project will consist of: new plumbing, wallpaper, new lighting, a floating vanity, paint, and one stunning mirror before it is complete! Since it’s the only bathroom in the house, we are going to move fast. Meaning — all items have been ordered and it will begin once items have arrived.
I truly believe that all things are better with a bit of lacquer. Thank you for following along on my journey with My Manicured life!
Hope you have a lovely manicured week!
