Gift Guide For The Hostess

November 26, 2016

This time of year we find ourselves with multiple invites to holiday gatherings, and we all know how much work it is to host even the smallest of groups. This year rather than bringing a bottle of wine (that will most likely be opened during the event), let’s give that fabulous hostess something to enjoy long after the crowd has left.

One item, in particular, is the Ekibo bowl – no two are the same and each is hand woven in Uganda through the Blessing Basket Project®.  These baskets are made from raffia palms and banana leaf stalks, using a coil technique to create graphic patterns. Using this traditional method, it takes about two days to weave a basket, which reflects the unique style and artistry of the weaver. Artisans in the Blessing Basket Project receive a Prosperity Wage, which is at least 2.5 times the Fair Trade Wage, helping them to provide for their families and to invest in their own business.

Whether you choose to shop small or select items such as the Ekibo bowl, the hostess is sure to enjoy your thoughtfulness.
