Dark finishes and walls have been pulling me in as of late. Often these create moody spaces; at other times they create crisp rooms — either way, they grab my attention. Sure, white rooms are airy and gorgeous, but should the black sheep be ignored? I think not.
Let’s embrace these spaces — they deserve some love too.
Living Rooms
How gorgeous are these deep green walls? This gallery wall doesn’t hurt the space either!
While one might think dark grey walls would be uninviting and cold, this space proves they’re anything but.
The painted ceiling tricks the eye — making it practically disappear — and allows the bookcases and built-in seating to pop.
Nervous to paint an entire room a dark color? Try starting with an accent wall. The living room is balanced with a dark accent pillow and nesting tables; pulling the colour, and your eye, around the room.
I love this richly layered room — from area rugs to the different fabrics used to the panelled walls. Each layer makes you want to dive in more and more, exploring each nook and cranny.
Kitchens
Black cabinets provide a rich layer to this kitchen; brass tones and butcherblock counters warm the space visually. I love how the cabinet space is maximized with drawers within the toe-kick.
I love the contrast here against the white counters; this clean and modern kitchen is a slam dunk. Look closely, and you will notice the wood grain popping through.
This stunning space has me dreaming of my next kitchen remodel. The brass hardware and the speckled tile add warmth and depth.

Bathrooms
